Senior Advisor - Reserves
Our policy team is growing in response to a developing community, a changing legislative environment, and a greater focus on creating strong strategic direction. Here’s your chance to guide how we care for our place and help to grow the beautiful Taupō District for the community and all who enjoy it.
Taupō District Council is a progressive organization committed to becoming the best we can be, and we are looking for people who share our dedication to excellence and continuous improvement. We can offer flexible working arrangements, a culture built on looking after our people and a supportive team environment where debate is encouraged.
Our team looks after all of Council’s plans and strategies including the long-term plan, district plan, reserve management plans and bylaws. With a big focus on sports and recreation facilities, the arts and culture sector as well as having an eye on the impending RMA reform and changes to our district plan, there’s a lot to do which means we have great variety in our work.
In the next few years, we have a strong focus on planning for our open spaces. We are looking for someone to help us drive the development of a strategy to guide investment in our open spaces and recreation facilities. We then need to review our existing reserve management plans as well as create new ones in collaboration with iwi. If you have experience in open space planning and an understanding of the Reserves Act, we have a great opportunity to drive innovative planning.
You will bring:
- Experience creating robust, evidence-based policy
- Proven, effective project management skills
- The vision to align strategy with the big picture
- Demonstrated ability to engage with & influence stakeholders
- Effective communication skills; able to clearly articulate complex information to a range of audiences.
If you work well with others, have strong communication skills, and can keep a project moving in the right direction, we would love to hear from you
